

Gail Joseph Wilwerding, 77, of Davenport passed away April 1, 2016 in Bettendorf, Iowa. Following cremation, a Memorial Mass will be held at 10 am, Saturday, April 9, 2016 at Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church, 4105 N. Division St., Davenport. There will be no visitation. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Heart Association. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com. Mr. Wilwerding was born May 9, 1938 in Earling, Iowa. He graduated from the University of Omaha and attended graduate school at Fairleigh Dickinson University in Teaneck, NJ and the University of Illinois at Urbana. His marriage to Ruth A. Pinkelman took place in 1965 in St James, Nebraska. He was employed as a civilian supervisor in the Department of the Army prior to his retirement in 1997. His memberships included several engineering societies and Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church. He enjoyed cross-country biking, was a RAGRAI participant and enjoyed carpentry and household repair and maintenance. Survivors include his wife, Ruth; children: Renee Wilwerding Mueller and her husband, Bill, Lee Daniel Wilwerding and his wife, Rhonda and Pamela Osterhaus and her husband, Eric; six grandchildren; two great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews; brother Ronald Wilwerding and his wife, Pauline; sister, Mae VanMaren and her husband, Robert and two sisters-in-law, Teresa Wilwerding and Gladys Wilwerding. He was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and EllaMae Wilwerding; brothers, Jack Wilwerding and Larry Wilwerding and a sister, Jean Smith.
