Gary Allen Carter, 65, of Bettendorf, passed away Monday, May 14, 2012 at University Hospital in Iowa City due to a heart condition. Per his wishes cremation rites were accorded. Visitation will be held from 4-7PM Tuesday, May 22, 2012 at the Runge Mortuary. Memorials may be made to University of Iowa Hospitals. Online condolences may be left at www.therungemortuary.com.
Gary was born November 23, 1946 in Davenport, IA. He was the son of Garnett (Carter) Weis and William J. Weis. He graduated from Davenport West High School in 1965. He was married to Joyce Sample for 23 years.
He retired in 2009, enjoyed his trips to Hawaii and was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and St. Louis Cardinal fan.
Those left to honor his memory are children: Rachelle (Randy “Spike”) Edmund, Cambridge, IL, Aaron Carter (Raquel Speetzen), Bettendorf, and Alaina Carter (Danny Nelan), Hillsdale, IL; and granddaughter, Hailey Clark, Cambridge, IL.
