Gary Alan Schluenz, 73, of Davenport, passed away Monday, October 26, 2020 at Genesis East Medical Center.
Per his request, cremation rites will be accorded. The Runge Mortuary is assisting his family. A Celebration of his life will be held at a future date. Memorials may be made to the family.
Gary was born February 13, 1947 in Davenport, the son of Elmer J. and Thora M. Schluenz. He served in the Army from 1968 until 1970. He received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from St. Ambrose in 1972. In his earlier years, Gary enjoyed playing slow pitch softball with his brother Rick. He worked as a mechanic for a local service station while attending school and developed an affinity for foreign cars; especially Austin Healey’s. He worked at Foreign Car Parts in Davenport and later at QC Toyota as the Parts Manager. He also played guitar and sang in bands including the “Rousers” and the “Chevelles”. His current passion was learning to fly ultralight aircraft.
Those left to honor his memory include his brother, Rex, Davenport, Rick, Dubuque, niece, Amber Rikke and her children: Alexzander Page and Alyssa Rikke.
His parents and a brother Ron preceded him in death.
