

Pastor George Russell McCord, 72, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, June 7, 2026, at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. A celebration of life is pending in July at The Runge Mortuary. Memorials may go to the family.
George was born on June 26, 1953, the son of Orson and Stella (Scardina) McCord. After high school graduation, he received his Bachelor of Ministry degree from Free Gospel Ministerial College.
He married Patricia Mancini on August 23, 1975, in Clarksburg, WV. The couple moved to the Midwest in the late 80’s, where they started their ministry in Bloomfield, IA and later moved to Eldridge in 1994 where they retired from the former Living Church of Jesus Christ. George also was a truck driver for Straight Shot Trucking in Mt. Joy where he mentored younger drivers with his knowledge of auto mechanics. He could also be found feeding stray cats around the trucking company. In all that he did, George was devoted even after his retirement due to health issues.
In younger years, he enjoyed bowling. He was an avid reader and studier who loved traveling to his native West Virginia to visit family They would laugh and tell stories of memories over the years. Special to his him was his grandson, Elijah, and they enjoyed many great times together. Some of his favorite activities included fixing cars, driving with his wife to dine, watching basketball and cheering on his Mountaineers. He enjoyed listening to gospel music, especially “At Calvary”, “At the Cross” and “Goodness of God.”
Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Patty; daughters, Jessica Tyler (Adam Honts) and Leah (Taylor) Lang; mother, Stella McCord, Bridgeport, WV, grandchildren: Elijah Lang, Natalee Honts and Nathan King; brother, Tony Losh, Clarksburg, WV, sisters, Linda Dyer, Elkins WV and Sherry (Sam) Spatafore, Bridgeport, WV, numerous nieces and nephews and his many “grandpups.”
His father preceded him in death.
