George Lucas Rekkas, age 94, of Davenport, Iowa passed away on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Harmony Nursing Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2023 at Weerts Funeral Home. Visitation will take place at 10:00 am until time of service. George was born on March 4, 1929 in Louka, Greece. When George was 21, he immigrated to the United States becoming a citizen. George proudly enlisted in the United States Army, serving in Germany. He married Marilyn Wilson on January 1, 1959, she preceded him in death on May 18, 1962. He married Susan Norton on June 21, 1975 in Rock Island, IL. George retired from Caterpillar after 15 years of employment.
George loved to garden. He loved to take care of his yard and tend to his rose bushes. He also enjoyed walking the Bix 7 race, walking a total of 12 times.
Survivors include his wife Susan; Children, Alexis Armstrong, Muncie, IN, Christine Rekkas of Davenport, IA, and Victoria Neal, Pace, FL; 11 grandchildren and 1 great-grandchild.
He was preceded in death by his parents, wife Marilyn and infant son Ricky; 3 sisters and 2 brothers.
