Gerald “Jerry” Edward O’Neill, 76, of Davenport, IA, passed away on Saturday, July 5, 2025 at Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House. Per his wishes, a private service will be held at Jerry’s final resting place: Davenport Memorial Park. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Kidney Fund.
Jerry was born on February 27, 1949 in Lake Forest, IL to parents Edward and Marjorie (Higgins) O’Neill. He went on to obtain his bachelor’s degree from Iowa State University in Accounting. Following his time in college, he moved to the Quad Cities as he began working for Deere & Company. Later in his career, he also worked for United Healthcare.
Jerry married the love of his life, Pamela Gaffield, on September 20, 1986 in Las Vegas, NV. Together they enjoyed over 38 years in each other’s company. Jerry loved his family and especially enjoyed being a grandpa. He had a knack for dad jokes and fit the role well. His quirky and caring personality is already missed by those who knew him.
Among those left to remember Jerry include his beloved wife, Pamela O’Neill; children Jenny (Pam Chozen) O’Neill of Davenport, IA, Kerry (Brandon) Goldsberry of Bettendorf, IA, Chantal (Dave) Miller of Bettendorf, IA, and Sean O’Neill of Davenport, IA, and grandchildren, Maddox Goldsberry, Clara Goldsberry, and Wren Magnolia Miller.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Marjorie O’Neill, and brother, Robert O’Neill.
