

Glen L. Bellows, 75, of Bettendorf, died at 10:32 am on Tuesday, August 28, 2012 in Bettendorf. Funeral services will be Saturday, September 1, 2012 at 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in East Moline, IL; officiated by Bishop Alan Moose. Visitation will be Friday from 4-7 pm at the Runge Mortuary. Burial will be in Funks Grove Cemetery, McLean, IL, near Bloomington, IL.
Memorials may be made to the church or Boy Scouts of America.

Glen was born January 9, 1937 in Spencer, IA; the son of Glen Leverne and Virginia (Adams) Bellows. He married Sylvia Dean on June 11, 1959 in Crescent Hill Methodist Church in Louisville, KY.

(Gordon) Dean, Meridian, ID; grandchildren: Candice, Tyler, Katelynn, Zachary and Lauren Bellows all of Summerfield, NC; Maria, Allison, Nathan, Katie, Glen and Scott Bellows of Cedar Rapids, IA; Tara (Joseph) Graver, York, PA; Jennifer (James) Camp, Bloomington, IL; Christy (Alex) Germanis, Bloomington, IL; Spencer Craig, Venice, FL; Benjamin Craig, Bloomington, IL; Christopher (Corey) Dean, Meridian, ID; Ashley (Mack) Drzayich, Provo, UT; Michelle and Danielle Dean, Meridian, ID; nine great grandchildren; sisters: Karen (Terry) Stephenson, Tyler, TX; Alice (Clem) Williams, Missoula, MT and Doris Stevenson, Kansas City, MO.
His parents and a daughter, Anne Louise, preceded him in death.
His memberships included: The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where he served extensively in leadership positions including serving as bishop of Bloomington, IL Ward, bishop of Normal, IL Ward and nine years as a counselor in the Peoria, IL Stake presidency.
Glen grew up on a farm near Spencer, IA. He contracted polio in 1952 at the age of 15. He graduated from the University of Illinois in 1959 with a BS in mechanical engineering. His career was the design of mechanical/electrical systems for large buildings such as schools, college buildings, military buildings, medical facilities, churches, municipal buildings, etc. His specialty was the design of heating, ventilating and air conditioning systems.
He was a founder and president of Buchanan, Bellows & Associates, Ltd (BBA), consulting engineers in Bloomington, IL and was personally involved in the design of hundreds of buildings in the central Illinois area.
He enjoyed church, his family, family reunions, his many friends, reading, politics and TV sports. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He always enjoyed meeting new people and counted hundreds of acquaintances as his friends.
