Glennys E. Baker

Mrs. Glennys E. Baker, 101, of Davenport, died on Tuesday, March 4, 2025 at her residence. Services in celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, March 8 at 12:30 p.m. at Weerts Funeral Home, Kimberly Road at Jersey Ridge, Davenport, where the family will greet friends from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Memorials may be made to Christ Methodist Church, Davenport. Burial will be in the National Cemetery in Rock Island, IL.

Mrs. Baker was born April 25, 1923 in Calhoun County, Iowa, to Rev. Ralph and Hilda (Sorenson) McCaulley. She married Lester R. Baker on January 1, 1948, in Davenport. He preceded her in death in August 2009.

Mrs. Baker worked at Hubill Inc. for 30 years. She was an officer of Women’s Aglow for many years. For most of her life, she was a member of El Bethel and Westside Assembly of God churches, and in her senior years, attended Christ Methodist Church.

She loved sending cards to family and friends. At the age of 100, she sent 159 Christmas cards.

Survivors include daughter Cheryl (Chuck) Hays, of Pekin, IL; son, Glen (Patricia) Baker, of Davenport; brother, Nolan McCaulley of MO; 3 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sisters, Bonnie Burggraaf, Darlene King, and brother, Donald “Bud” McCaulley.
