Gordon L. Coon

Funeral services for Gordon “Gordy” L. Coon, 63, of Davenport, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 29, 2014 at the Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel in Davenport. Burial will follow at Fairmount Cemetery. The family will greet friends on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the mortuary. Mr. Coon died on Thursday, November 20, 2014 at his residence following a lengthy illness.Gordon LeRoy Coon was born on September 2, 1951 in Davenport, IA, the son of Clifford and Josephine (Paulsen) Coon. On August 19, 1978 he married Heather J. Russett in Davenport. In his earlier years he worked for Altar & Sons and then took an early retirement due to failing health. Hunting and fishing were among his favorite pastimes.Surviving members of the family include – his Wife: Heather of Davenport; 2 Daughters: Jessie (Nate) White of Davenport, and Rickie Sue (Troy) Peters of Spring, TX; a Sister: Judy (Dick) Hahn of Davenport; and 2 Granddaughters: Carissa and Cortni.He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 brothers: Clifford, Jerry, and Richard.Memorials may be made to the family.
