

Funeral services to celebrate the life of Gregory E. Sandidge, 89, of Davenport, will be held at 12:00 Noon on Friday, February 8, 2019 at Christ United Methodist Church in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Burial with military honors will follow at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Gregory went to be with his Lord on Friday, February 4, 2019 at Genesis Medical Center, East Campus, Davenport. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.
Gregory Elwood Sandidge was born on December 1, 1929 in Pawnee, IL, the son of Walter and Cora (Taylor) Sandidge. Following his graduation from Pawnee High School he went on to serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict along with his twin brother Gary. On December 6, 1952 he married Mary Louise Russell in Pawnee, IL. She preceded him in death in June of 2008.
Greg worked as a mechanic for many years at Scott County Ready Mix retiring in 2001. He greatly enjoyed his family and also his church family. He was an avid mall walker and people watcher. He also greatly enjoyed eating out…often!
Those left to honor his memory include - his 2 Daughters: Pam (Brad) Hinrichs and Lori (Allen) Sandidge-Furrow; 3 Grandchildren: Jason (Geri) Hinrichs, Ted (Lauren) Courtney, Sabrina Louise Courtney; 2 Great-grandchildren: Aiden and Abby Hinrichs; 2 Brothers: Gary (Carolyn) Sandidge and William 'Bill' (Alvora) Sandidge; and a Sister-in-law: Fairy Castleman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife: Mary; 2 sisters at birth: Rosemary and Eileen; and 4 brothers: Robert, Morse, Taylor, and Stewart.
Memorials may be made to the Christ United Methodist Church Hand bell Choir or Davenport American Legion Post #26.
