

Visitation will be 4-7PM Monday, February 21, 2011 at the Runge Mortuary. Cremation will be done following the visitation and a memorial service will be conducted by American Legion Post #26 at 1:00PM Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at the National Cemetery Rock Island, IL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the family to go to a charity in Greg’s honor. On line condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com .
Greg was born October 2, 1961 in Orange, CA to Bernard & Delores (Castleberry) Spurgeon. He served in the US Marine Corps from 1980-84. On February 20, 1987 he was united in marriage to Alicia Kroeger in Vista, CA. Greg had worked as an electrician with the IBEW since 1991 and most recently had been working for Russell Electric.
Greg enjoyed the challenge of fixing things and was always willing to pass along his knowledge. Motorcycles were a passion, enjoying both dirt bikes and Harley’s.
His family was very important to him; he was a loving father and husband who had a very special bond with his granddaughter Kendalyn who knew him as “Poppa”.
Survivors include his wife Alicia Spurgeon, Davenport; daughter & son-in-law Jennifer & Brett Housley, Davenport; son Brian Spurgeon, Ft. Bragg, NC; Daughter Amanda Spurgeon, Davenport; Cherished Granddaughter Kendalyn Housley; Brother Chris Spurgeon, Lucerne Valley, CA; father & step mother Bernard & Lois Spurgeon, Victorville, CA; nieces and nephews, Josh Kroeger, Nick Seneca, Juliana Lane, CA and Kyle Houston, Davenport; and grandniece, Sadie Kroeger, CA.
Greg was preceded in death by his mother and a brother Brian L. Spurgeon.
