

Funeral services for Harold L. Goettsch, 90, of Davenport will be 1:00 on Thursday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary Chapel, Davenport. The family will greet friends from 11:30 am to service time at the Mortuary on Thursday. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.Harold died on Sunday, June 27, 2010 at Kavanagh House, Des Moines. Harold Lorenz Goettsch was born on August 15, 1919 in Bennett, Iowa, the son of Lorenz and Alvina (Hagge) Goettsch. He married Ruth Kelting on April 20, 1945 in Davenport.Harold served as a member of the Eighth Army Air Force on a B24 bomber during World War II. He retired after working in Davenport and Rock Island for more than 30 years as a Store Manager for Thom McAn Shoes. After retirement, he and Ruth loved spending time with family and driving vacations throughout the United States. Highlights were the many trips to Colorado and their 1991 Rose Bowl trip. Harold was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago Cubs. Harold enjoyed his home of the last six years, Silvercrest Assisted Living, in Davenport. Survivors include his sons Jim Goettsch and his wife Nada of Chicago, IL, Craig Goettsch and his wife Lanice of Des Moines, IA, and Dennis Goettsch and his wife Teresa of Lakeville, MN, and sister Helen Hamann of Eldridge, IA. Eight grandchildren and one great grandchild.He is preceded in death by his parents, and wife Ruth L. Goettsch. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the East Central Iowa Alzheimer's Association.
