Harry Albert Topalian

Harry A. Topalian, 76, of Davenport passed away on March 17, 2019. Visitation will be held on Friday, March 22, 2019 from 5-8 pm at Weerts Funeral Home, 3625 Jersey Ridge Road, Davenport. Funeral services will be 1 pm Saturday, March 23, 2019 at Trinity Episcopal Cathedral, 121 West 12th Street, Davenport. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park. Memorials may be made to Trinity Episcopal Cathedral or St. Jude’s Hospital.

Harry was born on April, 15, 1942 in Racine, Wisconsin to Albert and Martha (Simonian) Topalian. Harry earned a BA Degree in business from The University of Wisconsin-Madison. In a traditonal Armenian wedding, he was united to Katherine Xidis on October 26, 1974 in Racine, WI. Harry began his career with U.S. Steel in Chicago, IL. He was currently employed by Intertrade Steel based out of Cedar Rapids, IA. A career that spanned over 54 years and allowed him to feel like he never worked a day in his life.

Harry enjoyed interacting with people and built a large network of individuals he cared about, both in business and his personal life. Family was very important to him. He had a special bond and relationship with his children. His granddaughters gave him more joy than he knew was possible and being a grandpa became his new surprise passion. He enjoyed family vacations in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan, where he would sit for hours watching the ships come into the Soo Locks.

Survivors include his loving wife Katherine; children Nicholas Topalian of Omaha, NE, Ashley (Brian) Stelly of Davenport, IA, Michael Topalian of West Des Moines, IA; grandchildren, Anna, Hatley, and Emma; sister, Alma (Dennis) Sroka of South Port, NC. and brother Myron (Marilyn) Topalian of Racine, WI; nieces, Nikki, Sam and Alex and several cousins, aunts and uncle.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
