Harvey was born on March 16, 1941, in Moline, Illinois, to Harvey Robert Duncan and Mary Lucille Little. Harvey graduated from Bettendorf High School and worked as General Supervisor for ALCOA Aluminum. He worked for ALCOA for 34 years. Harvey met the love of his life, Jean Kay Miller shortly after graduating high school and for Harvey, was love at first sight! They were married on November 24 1962 and were happily married for the rest of their lives and are now together in heaven. During their marriage they were inseparable and had a special bond that endured their entire lives.
Harvey embraced life with a passionate sense of adventure and a deep appreciation for family, friends, and the outdoors. He enjoyed nature, fishing, dogs, western movies, and the friendships he built over the years. He had a deep passion for fishing which he passed along to his children and grandchildren.
He enjoyed sports and especially playing and watching football. He was a member of the Bettendorf High School football team who won 25 games in a row from 1958 through 1960! Harvey was a lifelong sports fan, especially devoted to the Iowa Hawkeyes. He also enjoyed hunting, archery, playing pool, barbequing, and spending as much time as possible outdoors. Harvey will be remembered for his kindness, selflessness, unique sense of humor, and his genuineness which had a lifelong impact on all connections he made throughout his life. His grandchildren adored him and looked up to him as a role model. Harvey created lifelong memories for his grandchildren even while living far apart. Harvey called them regularly on the phone to check up, share his wisdom, and of course, make them laugh with his sense of humor. When visiting, Harvey engaged in activities such as his passion for fishing or funny story telling. Harvey’s legacy lives on in the memories of all who knew and loved him.
