Helen “Kay” Perry, 90, of Bettendorf, passed away Friday, October 14, 2022 in Bettendorf. A funeral mass will be Tuesday, October 18, 2022 at 10:30 am at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church in Bettendorf. Visitation will be Monday from 4-7 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Her final resting place will be with her husband in Mt. Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may go to the church or to River Bend Food Bank. Kay was born November 17, 1931 in Maquoketa, IA. She was the daughter of George Henry and Helen Irene (Omernik) Anacker. She married Calvin Leo Perry on June 25, 1955. He preceded her in death. Prior to her marriage, Kay taught elementary school in Hibbing, MN.
She was a long-time member of the Catholic Service Board and an active member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church where she loved singing in the choir. She lived to serve God, her church and her community.
Along with her husband, Kay enjoyed traveling around the world, including a special trip to the Holy Land. In their earlier years, they enjoyed camping and canoeing with friends in the Boundary Waters. Later, she loved visiting her grandchildren, gardening, flowers and watching the birds in her backyard.
Kay loved to go on daily walks and would chat with many people along her way. She maintained and cherished a close friendship with her husband’s twin sister, Carol.
Those left to honor her memory include her children: Mark (Karen) Perry, Dayton, OH, Nancy (Steve) Heymann, Los Gatos, CA and Michelle (Matt) Shapiro, Golf, IL; grandchildren: Calvin, Allison, Jessica, Kristina and Caitlin; sister-in-law, Carol Drolsum and a host of neighbors and friends who will miss her dearly. Kay was preceded in death by her brother, George.
