

Helen Blanche Scherer, 83, of Walcott passed away on Tuesday, September 20, 2016. A funeral service will be held at 2:00pm on Friday, September 23, 2016 at the Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to MS Foundation or to the Family. Online tributes and condolences may be expressed by visiting www.rungemortuary.com. She was born on June 14, 1933 the daughter of Theodore and Cora (Hamann) Fraham. Helen was united in marriage to Dale Scherer on October 4, 1958. They danced in their younger years and dancing remained important to them throughout their marriage. Together they lived their entire marriage at the family farm. Helen loved farm life, gardening and watching the cows and birds. She loved the St. Louis Cardinals, bingo and game shows. She was an excellent cook. Helen was a grateful woman who lived a simple life and never complained about any of life’s hardships. Those left to honor her memory include her children: Lisa (Lenny Carr) Lovell, and Rich (Teka) Scherer; grandchildren: Christopher Macksey, Stacey Macksey, Ashley Macksey, Katie Willis, Christopher Lang and Karri Lang; great grandchildren: Richie Porter, Jr., Jackson Martinez, Emery Kuhlman, Aubrey Lang, Ruby Lang and Bristol and Cayden Griffith, Ayla and Dalton Johnson, and brother, Kenneth Frahm, Davenport, IA. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister, Ruth Garlock, and brothers, John Frahm and Ted Frahm.
