Helmut Jech

Helmut H. Jech, 83, of Davenport, died Monday, September 13, 2010 at Genesis East Medical Center. A memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 16, 2010 at 1:00 pm at the Runge Mortuary. There will be no visitation. Cremation rites were accorded. Online condolences may be left at www.therungemortuary.com. Memorials may be made to the family.

Helmut was born April 7, 1927 in Germany, the son of Otto and Martha Jech. He was formerly married to Rosina Bergmeier of Germany. He married Margie Weatherly on July 11, 1982 in Davenport. Helmut started his career working on the Harold McMaine Farm in DeWitt and later worked for Oscar Mayer and Pillsbury Companies prior to his retirement. Helmut belonged to the Eagles Lodge and the German Heritage Society. He enjoyed fishing, boating, playing cards, especially euchre, traveling and dancing. He was a lifelong fan of the Chicago Cubs and enjoyed spending winters in Arizona.

Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Margie, Davenport, sons: Helmut James “Jim” (Kelly) Jech, Strafford, MO, Jeffrey (Helen) Jech, East Point, MI; daughters, Kathleen (Philip) Cardosi, Oklahoma City, OK, Karin Anderson, Florida and Flori Tonn, Greensboro, NC; foster daughter, Tonya Johnson, Florida, 15 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. His parents, son, Everett Ware, great grandsons Brandon Anderson and Nino Cardosi and several brothers and sisters in Germany preceded him in death.
