

Henry H. Wolf, 95, long-time resident of Davenport, died December 31, 2014, at the Kahl Home. Visitation will be held on Sunday, January 4th, from 3:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. at The Runge Mortuary, Davenport. Funeral services will take place at the mortuary on Monday, January 5th, at 12:00 p.m.. Burial will be held at Davenport Memorial Park immediately following the funeral service. Memorials may be made to the Elks Lodge #298 in Davenport. He was born April 26, 1919, on the family farm in Wesley, Iowa, to the late Henry P. Wolf and Mabel M. (Keeney) Wolf, and was the oldest of 12 children. He married Burneil Schnoor on October 19, 1941, in Davenport, and together they raised six children. She preceded him in death on August 19, 2005.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Army during World War II, serving from February, 1941 to November, 1945.
Henry joined the Plumbersand Pipe Fitters Union Local 25 in 1947. He became a Master Plumber and he and his partner, Frank Rosenboom, started Aero Plumbing in Davenport. He retired in 1982. In retirement he worked for Utility Equipment Company in Bettendorf from 1985 to 2000.
A proud and engaged father with all his children, Henry was a Scout Master in the Boy Scouts and coached Little League and Pony League teams when his sons were young. He loved hunting and spent many Novembers in the woods of Northern Wisconsin deer hunting with his brothers and friends. He also loved to fish and always looked forward to fishing trips to Canada with his brothers. When his family was young they enjoyed camping and boating. Henry earned his pilot’s license in the late 60’s and loved flying his Bonanza airplane.
He went sky diving at the age of 87 with his family and friends watching. In later years, he and his brothers made many road trips out West, visiting relatives and going to the casinos.
He was also an active volunteer and member of the Elks Club #298 in Davenport.
In addition to his wife, Burneil, he was preceded in death by his son, Russell, and six brothers, LeRoy, Neil, Robert, Charles, twins Lee and Louis and three sisters, June Wilkinson, JoAnne Knowles and Patricia Joch. He is survived by sons, Paul (Judy) of Davenport, Louis, Oak Grove, MO, and Dean (Darlene) Hiram, GA. Also surviving are daughters, Pam Collier (Dave) Charlotte, NC and Becki Norton (Charlie) Davenport, daughter-in-law Marge Wolf (Russell) Rogers AR. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren and 3 great-great-grandchildren and special friend and companion Frances Denton of Davenport; sister, Mary L. Martin (Charles) of Pelican Lake, WI and brother, Douglas of Port Neches, TX, and many, many nieces and nephews.
