Hildegard M. Fahrenkrug

Hildegard Fahrenkrug (Propp), 87, of Davenport Iowa passed away on Saturday, July 23, 2022 at the Davenport Lutheran Home. There will be no memorial service per Hildegard’s wishes. She will be laid to rest in The Rock Island National Cemetery. Online condolences and tributes may be left at www.therungemortuary.com.

Hildegard was born February 17, 1935 in Lettnin/Pyritz Germany to Erich and Martha (Krummer) Propp. At the age of 11 she was forced from her home in Pomerania and came to Schleswig Holstein as a refugee. After her school education, she worked in Germany on farms.

She was united in marriage to Theo Fahrenkrug August 24, 1955 in Dortmund Germany. In 1957 after Theo finished his term in the U.S. Army they moved to the United States. Hildegard became a hairdresser and worked in this profession she loved, for about 40 years.

Hildegard and Theo had many friends and enjoyed traveling, socializing, playing cards and bowling together. Hildegard enjoyed hosting and cooking for others, her favorite was dessert. She was an avid gardener and enjoyed tending to her many flowers and gardens.

Those left to honor her memory include her sister IIse Petry, several nieces and nephews, as well as great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins all living in Germany. She also stayed connected to some friends from Germany. She had many friends and loved ones all over the United States.

Hildegard was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, Theo, twin brother Gerhard Propp and sister, Inge Berendt, as well as brothers-laws and sisters-in-laws.
