Homer Christner, 90, of Walcott, passed away Wednesday, March 31, 2021 in Walcott.

Funeral services will be Tuesday, April 6, 2021 at 2 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Tuesday from noon until 2 pm at the mortuary. His final resting place will be in Mt Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the family.Online condolences may be left at www.rungemortuary.com.

Homer was born March 10, 1931 in Mt. Pleasant, Iowa, the son of John and Agnes (Pickard) Christner. He served in the US Air Force. He married Glenda Hake on April 11, 1962 in Morrison, IL, she preceded him in death on September 20, 2004. He taught himself how to play the guitar and loved Country/Western and Gospel music. He enjoyed reading his bible but most of all, he loved his family dearly and they were most important to him. He also enjoyed his 1929 Ford that was given as a gift to him by his son, Tom

Those left to honor his memory include his children: George (Shirley), Glenn (Mary), Tom (Misty), Kathy (Jeff) Schneckloth, Amy (William) Lackey, Annie June and Murvine and son-in-law, Terry Slyter all of Davenport, numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren and sisters, Patty (Kenneth) Rosen, Maine and Loretta Rice, Davenport.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, Glenda, sons, Raymond “Buck”, Sam and Homer Jr., daughter, Laura Slyter, and siblings: twin brother Howard, Richard, Basil, Virginia, Darlene and Doris.

We at Honor Flight of the Quad Cities were saddened to hear of the passing of your beloved veteran. We understand that this is a time of grief for you, and we share that grief with you. We are thankful for him and his selfless contribution of time and effort to support and defend our nation.
