Hugh T. Ferguson

Funeral services will be held at 11:30 AM, Tuesday, January 8, 2013 in The Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be held from 9:30 AM until service time at the mortuary. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island Arsenal. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

Hugh was born on September 21, 1920 in Woolridge, Missouri. He served in the Army during WWII in Germany. He was united in marriage to Lois McQuerry March 6, 1943 in Kansas City, Missouri. He was a music teacher for 20 years and an English teacher for 20 years with the Davenport School System. Hugh was also an editor of Midwest Poetry Review Magazine. He enjoyed acting, music, and directing musicals.

Those left to honor his memory include wife, Lois; children, Bonnie (Michael) Wetzel, Las Cruces, New Mexico, Thomas M. (Mary) Ferguson, Mill Creek, Washington, and Douglas (Diane) Ferguson, Davenport; grandchildren, Paul, Renee, Angela, Veronica, Gordon, Graham, Gavin; great grandchildren, Erin, Cameron, Ethan, and Henry.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Woodrow, and, sister, Ruth.
