Ida was born in Hohenfeld, Germany on April 11, 1938 to Johann and Anna Buettner. She met the love of her life, Harold Winckler, when he was stationed with the U.S. Army 63rd Tank Battalion in Kitzingen, Germany, during the Korean Conflict, in 1954. The couple married on October 15, 1955 in Davenport. She devoted her career to her work with Sears Roebuck & Co. She started out in custom draperies and then went on to work in the Sears Service Center as an office clerk, moving on to become office supervisor, shop tech supervisor, and parts support manager. She retired from Sears in 1993 after a career there of 27 years. She was a long-time member of St. Paul Lutheran Church and was also a member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 369 where she served as chaplain. Ida enjoyed oil painting, sewing and needlework, gardening, baking, traveling, reading - especially her Bible, and loved spending time with her family and friends – including those from long ago, those from church, and the special friends in her neighborhood and in the Parkview-Eldridge area and elsewhere.
Ida is survived by her daughter, Patricia (William) Schwarz, son Harold (Lori) Winckler, grandchildren Kristin (Timothy) Thomas and Braden (Ryan) Schwarz, Emily (Christopher) Ferraro and Alyssa (Jesse) Nielsen, many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Harold, granddaughter Elizabeth Winckler, brother Johann Buettner and sisters Gerda Caligiuri and Katharina Brice.
