Irene Louise McDonnell

Davenport, IA Visitation for friends and family of Irene L. McDonnell, 80, of Davenport, will be from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm on Thursday at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at the mortuary. There will be no graveside service. Irene will rest with her husband at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery.

Irene passed away on Monday, October 1, 2018 at UnityPoint Hospital, Bettendorf, surrounded by her family.

To the world she was our Mother/Grandma, but to us she was the world. She enjoyed life, she loved her family and friends. Every year Irene did an Easter egg chase with her grandchildren. She had a green thumb for flowers and plants. She enjoyed watching birds from her kitchen window. Her favorite music concerts were the Elvis Presley impersonators. She collected Beanies and won many family card games. Irene attended Adventure Church, Davenport.

Irene was born on April 14, 1938 in Clinton, IA, the daughter of John and Bernice (Gundelfinger) Snodgrass. She married William McDonnell Jr. on March 26, 1955. She retired from Sears Mfg, after 32 years of service.

Irene will be dearly missed by her family, William McDonnell III, Connie (Mike) Williams, Brenda (Martin) Townsend, Rose McDonnell, Joy (Dave) Withers, Tami McDonnell, 9 grandchildren, Jennifer, Shelly, Caitlin, Brandy, Tonya, Amy, Adam, Brianna, Matthew, and 14 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her spouse, William McDonnell Jr. in 2000, son, Dennis McDonnell in 1986 and daughter-in-law, Dawn Gerlach-McDonnell in 1999, her parents, brothers and sisters.
