

Visitation will be Wednesday, December 19, 2018 from 4 to 6 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Services will be held on Thursday, December 20, 2018 at 2pm at the funeral home with a visitation one hour prior to the service. Her final resting place will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Clarissa Cook Hospice House, CASI or St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Ivy was born March 13, 1929 in Stuart County, IA; the loving daughter of E. Ray and Frony C. James. She was united in marriage to Clyde Talbert on November 3, 1948 in Lucas County, IA; he preceded her in death in 2003. She later married Paul Bendit on September 20, 2009; he preceded her in death in 2017.
She had worked at various companies including: Equitable Life Insurance, Peterson Paper and Flowers by Jerri, but retired from Marycrest College where she worked in the Registrar’s office.
Ivy volunteered at the former Mercy Hospital and Adams Elementary School in Davenport. She also served as a Girl Scout leader for many years.
She was a past member of the Primitive Baptist Church in Davenport and most recently attended the First United Presbyterian Church in Moline. Ivy had many hobbies including: square dancing, sewing, tatting, crocheting. She enjoyed puzzles, cards and dominos, and was quite proud of her artwork. She was very quick-witted, loved to laugh and will be remembered fondly as someone who loved to tease.
Those left to honor her memory include her daughters and son in law: Judy Pruess, Cedar Rapids, IA and Sandra and Walter Cox, Blue Grass; sons and daughters in law: Jeffrey and Lucy Talbert and Scot and Mary Talbert, both of Davenport; 8 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, David Pruess and 6 siblings.
