

A celebration of his life will be Saturday, September 12, 2026, starting at 2 pm at the Neighborhood Tap, formerly Phil and Larry’s Saloon. Memorials may be made to his family.
Jack was born in Chicago, IL on October 9, 1958, to Melvin and Lillie (Brown) Shelton. He served in the Army during the Vietnam War.
After graduating high school, he received his associate degree in culinary arts from Scott Community College. He worked at Village Inn for a period of time and most recently at LeClaire Manufacturing until retiring.
Jack had a lot of things he enjoyed, watching movies and tv; especially Marvel, teaching his family how to cook, the Chicago Bears, reminiscing about the past, fishing, fixing things for his family, going to the casino, collecting family memorabilia, gifting things to his family and listening to all types of music, especially Rihanna. Being a superfan of Caitlin Clark, he enjoyed watching her play basketball.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife, Kathleen; children: Jay, Breanna, Destinee, Sierra, Keisha, Katrina, Menyeon, Arnello, Myanna and Avone; numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and special friends, sisters Geri and Fiona and brother Derrick.
In addition to his parents, Jack was preceded in death by a brother, Sebastian and sister, Keya.
