James Howard Ayers, 74, of Davenport, IA, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 22, 2025. James was the son of Joan and Donald Ayers and was born on March 8th, 1950 in Iowa City, Iowa. A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
Jim enjoyed a 20+ year career in the fishing industry in Galveston, Texas before retiring and moving back to the Quad City area to be closer to his family. While in Galveston, James was captain and owner of several different fishing vessels over the years. Back in the Quad Cities, James was self-employed in the recycling industry.
He is survived by his brothers, Jack Ayers and Dale Ayers, his sisters, Linda Phillips, her husband Allan, Deborah Anderson and Susie Devol and her husband Mike. A service to celebrate Jim’s life will be held at a later date.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Joan and Donald Ayers, brother Michael Ayers and his wife Nola, and his sister Patricia Robbins and her husband Gary.
