Jim was born on April 2, 1963, in Seattle, WA, to Harold and Colleen Brindle. He grew up with his five brothers in Shoreline, WA. Jim graduated from the University of Puget Sound with a B.A. in Asian Studies and an emphasis in Marketing. Jim participated in the Pacific Rim International Program and was a member of Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity. Jim also earned a Master of International Business from the University of South Carolina.
Jim and Kathy, the perfect pair, were introduced at the University of Washington by Jim’s best friend Greg Hoff. Jim and Kathy spent their free time playing tennis daily with their best friends in Iowa, going to church, finding new restaurants to enjoy together, and celebrating their children. Jim was an amazing husband, whether it be waking up early to bring her favorite coffee, to surprising Kathy with ice cream, he spent every day cherishing her.
Above all, Jim was a family man. Jim and Kathy shared three children: Maddie, Emma-Kate, and Sam. Jim’s children and wife were his world, and he made sure their lives were incredible. From childhood vacations, coaching sports, fishing, family holidays, movie nights, and much more. Jim was extremely proud of: Maddie who recently achieved her lifelong goal of becoming a doctor, Emma-Kate, a registered nurse at Duke Hospital, and Sam who is in college pursuing a computer science degree.
Jim worked hard his entire life to take care of his family and give back to his community. In 2019, Jim retired from Deere & Company after more than 30 years of service. He served on the board of Rivermont Collegiate and was an active member of St. Joseph’s Men’s Group. He was also a dynamic member of the Quad City Tennis Club, where he developed many beloved friendships and memories.
Jim, an avid Hawkeye fan, brought light, laughter, love, and smiles to everyone around him. He was truly one of a kind, always with a joke on standby, or fun idea to make life entertaining. A lifelong man of God, Jim upheld his Catholic faith and worked selflessly to spread God’s love with everyone around him. When unable to attend church at St. John Vianney, he listened to Catholic radio, or read his Bible.
Jim is survived by his mother Colleen, wife Kathy, his three children, brothers Dan (Aa-Ping) Brindle, Doug (Shari) Brindle, Joseph (Audrey) Brindle, Bill (Jennifer) Brindle, and many beloved nieces and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his brother Michael and father Harold.
A Memorial Mass will be held at St. John Vianney on July 29, 2021, at 9:00 a.m. followed by a visitation.
