James Atwell Brooke II, 50, of Davenport, IA passed away after unexpected health complications at a local hospital on January 26, 2023. Funeral services will be held at Weerts Funeral Home on Friday, February 10 at 11 a.m. Visitation will be held from 10 a.m. to the time of service. James Brooke II was born on February 20, 1972 in Manitowoc, Wisconsin to Patricia and James Brooke. Upon graduating from Roncalli High School, of Manitowoc Wisconsin in 1990, James attended college. He most recently had been working as a restaurant manager and area coach for Papa Murphy’s in Bettendorf.
Jim was intrigued by the natural world, leading him to learn about astronomy and enjoying travel, especially to our country’s national parks. He spent many days on the lake at the Palesch family cottage in Northern Wisconsin enjoying boating, water sports, fishing, and hanging out with his family. Being a man of many passions, he also enjoyed guitar playing, tennis, biking, and pool. Throughout the years, he honed his cooking skills enough to be considered a “grill master” and his family enjoyed the delicious meals he would make. James was a fan of the Hawkeyes, the Green Bay Packers, and the Braves. Out of the many hobbies and interests Jim had, his most prized time spent was with his family. He loved to play monopoly and joke around with his kids. His children have fond memories of watching movies and playing board games with their dad. His playful nature and inquisitive spirit will be missed greatly.
Those left to carry on his memory include his mother, Patricia; children, Ethan, Michael, Isabel, Ben; brother, Brad (Kristie) Brooke; niece and nephew, Nora and Ryan Brooke; ex-wife and friend, Catherine, aunts and uncles and many friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, James; grandparents, James O. and Betty Brooke and Steve and Gertrude Palesch; his uncle, Charles Brooke; his aunt, Becky Palesch; and cousin, Steve Palesch.
