

James E. Cassatt, 93, formerly of Davenport, passed away October 17, 2015 in Freeport, Illinois. Funeral services will be held at 2 pm, Wednesday, October 21, 2015 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 12 Noon- 2 pm Wednesday at the mortuary. Burial will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.
Mr. Cassatt was born in 1922 in Bloomfield, Iowa, a son of Harold and Chloe (Carruthers) Cassatt. He served in the US Army Air Corps during World War II in the Pacific Theater. On February 12, 1949 he married Opal Tadlock in Davenport. He retired in 1983 following thirty plus years of service at Alcoa. He was a former member of the Eagles Lodge and enjoyed reading and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Opal; children Deborah (Frank) Malito and Dennis (Ellen) Cassatt; grandchildren: Kristi Pozniak, Michael Malito, Kimberly Malito, Thomas (Carissa) Cassatt and Paul Cassatt ; five great grandchildren and a sister, Mary Spahr. He was preceded in death by four brothers: Harold Cassatt, Jr., Harvey Cassatt, Charles Cassatt and William Cassatt.
