James A. Daugherty

James A. Daugherty, 46, of Moline, IL passed away Sunday, March 4, 2018 at Genesis Medical Center, Illini Campus. A celebration of life will be held at the Rock Island Boat Club on, Saturday, March 17, 2018, St. Patrick’s Day beginning at 3:00 pm. Online condolences may be expressed at www.rungemortuary.com.

James was born October 8, 1971 to Victor Daugherty and Janet Smith in Davenport, IA. He was a dedicated hard worker. James will be remembered for his big heart who always put other people’s needs before his own.

In spare time James enjoyed cooking, fishing, bonfires, playing pool and country music. James also loves singing karaoke and would win awards in karaoke competitions. But above all James loved spending time with his friends and spending time on the beach. In his younger years he loved taking his son to Buffalo Beach.

Those left honoring his memory include his son, Paul, East Moline; sister Debra Gregory, Tennessee; nieces, Katherine Church, Agusta Smith and Grace Gregory, all from Tennessee; girlfriend, Jennifer Henke, Moline; beloved dog, Trixie and many extended family members.

In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by his brother, Paul and step-father, Ted Hottenstein.

Oh uncle Jimmy where do I begin with memories.... Your Definitely one of a kind . You always knew how too help me when I was in a slump. I could tell you anything without judgement and you would always tell me Katie I love you very much you are my niece your a strong hearted women and you would tell me to keep my head up and keep pushing! You never got to meet trinity in person but the video calls will be greatly missed as you laughed at me cause of all the energy she has! I know your not in pain any more nor suffering ! Your with your mom and dad now and older brother Paul! Just please tell me what it looks like in heaven . I know your singing in the angels choir you sure do love to sing and raise hell lol! I love you uncle Jimmy and the only regret I have is not coming to visit more often ! God I miss you uncle Jimmy oh so very much
