

Visitation will be held on Thursday, March 27th from 4-7pm at Runge Mortuary. A funeral service will be held at 10am on Friday March 28th in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. To show support, we request that people wear one of the following: Iowa Hawkeyes wear, Green Bay Packers wear, casual wear, or their favorite team if you do not have Hawkeyes or Packers wear. He will be laid to rest at the Rock Island Arsenal National Cemetery.
James was born on February 20th, 1943 to Walter and Ruth Dilts in Davenport, Iowa. He proudly served in the United States Army. On December 20th, 1981, he was united in marriage to Barbara Irwin in Chippewa Falls, WI. He owned and operated several businesses for many years.
James was an avid Green Bay Packers and Iowa Hawkeye fan. He was a great football player from Bettendorf High School and contributed to winning the first state championship for the school. He received a football scholarship and played baseball for Parsons College and played baseball. He enjoyed camping, snow skiing, traveling, hunting, and playing cards.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 43 years, Barbara Dilts; sister-in-law, Linda (David) Dilts; sons, Michael (Brenda) Dilts and Eric Dilts; daughters, Missy Dilts O’Connell and Lisa (Ruben) Perez; grandchildren, Ashley, Marisa, Dalton, Antonio, Bailey, and Kennedy; great grandchildren, Alyana, Lily, Lennon, and Remy.
He was preceded in death by parents Ruth and Walter Dilts, Sister Phyllis Schroeder, and brother David Dilts.
