

James Russell “Russ” Forbis, 90, of Davenport, IA., passed away on Friday, July 15, 2016 at The Clarissa C. Cook Hospice House, Bettendorf. Cremation rites have been accorded. Graveside services will be held on September 20, 2016 at the Anderson-Smith Cemetery, Chillicothe, MO. for the immediate family. The Runge Mortuary is assisting his family.Russ was born on January 14, 1926 in Chillicothe, MO., the son of Lowell and Maude (Cox) Forbis. He married Nancy Jo Peckenschneider, on September 5, 1964.
Russ served in the U.S. Navy during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He worked for Stewart Warner Corp. as a factory rep., retiring after 20 yrs. He later had a career in the rock and jewelry business for 30 yrs., owning and operating Grand River/Honey Creek Gems.Russ was a 65 yr. member of the masonic order Friendship Lodge #89 and a member of the NRA, Heritage Foundation, and the plus 60’s club. He had numerous hobbies, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, boating, and gardening.He is survived by, his loving wife Nancy of 51 yrs.,brother, Bob (Joan) Forbis, Galt, MO.; niece, Jackie Lynn Forbis, Independence, MO.; nephew, Jim Forbis, Chillicothe, MO.; brother-in-law, Jim (Pam) Peckenschneider and sister-in-law, Jean Christiansen, Dayton, OH.He was preceded in death by his parents.
