James L. "Jim" Tetrick

James “Jim” L. Tetrick, 72, of Rock Island, IL passed away Saturday, March 26, 2011 after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness at his home surrounded by his family. A Memorial Service will be at 11:30 AM Saturday, April 2, 2011 in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will be from 4:00 – 7PM Friday, April 1, 2011 at the mortuary. Entombment will be in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Hannah Wells Trust Fund at US Bank or at www.helping hannahsheart.org. Jim was born June 19, 1938 in Kansas City, MO., the son of James D. and Elva (Muns) Tetrick. He married Janice Chapman in 1963 and was later united in marriage to Loretta “Lorrie” McDowell on December 28, 1992 in Cape Girardeau, MO.

He was a graduate of the Realtor Institute and was employed by Royal Neighbors of America until his retirement in 2003. He was also a real estate broker with Century 21 for a time. His memberships include: past master of the Masonic Lodge, charter life under writer, FLMI, and the Heritage Church, Rock Island for 15 years, where he was very involved in marriage mentoring and served as group leader.

Jim put himself through college working as a life guard and was very proud of this accomplishment and during his tenor he saved many lives.

Jim was a very pleasant man with a quick wit who loved life and was always on the go. He also enjoyed shopping.

Those left to honor his memory include his loving wife of 18 years, Lorrie; sons and daughters-in-law, David (Lisa) Waukee, IA. and Dan (Shelly) Tetrick Kansas City, MO.; daughter and son-in-law, Elizabeth (Todd) Miller, Lake Zurich, IL.; step daughters, Lisa McIntyre and Julie Harvill, Charleston, SC., Kim (John)Wells, Bettendorf; 13 grandchildren, Ashley, Sara, Rachel,Jason,Aaron,Logan,Nicholas,Lindsey,Madison,Matthew,Megan,Hannah,and Natalie.

He was preceded in death by his parents.
