Jandy was born on December 16, 1976 to Sally VanZandbergen and Jere Ales in Davenport, Iowa. She was raised by her mother and stepfather Don McMeekan in Pleasant Hope, Missouri, before returning to the Quad Cities. She attended Davenport West High School and later earned a GED.
Jandy married Jeff Poston on February 14, 1997 in Rock Island, Illinois. They had two daughters, Christina and Kaylee, and a son, Jacob. She was thrilled to become a grandma and looked forward to spending time with her grandson, Hudson.
She worked as a receptionist at Silvercrest Garner Senior Living in Davenport. Jandy truly enjoyed her job, and because of her friendly, kind, and caring nature, everyone always wanted to talk to her.
Jandy enjoyed the beauty and peace of nature and treasure hunting for driftwood along the Mississippi River. She created and sold beautiful driftwood and reclaimed wood items, shelves, mirrors, and other decor on Etsy. She enjoyed crafting and glitter, blending nail polish powders in custom colors. An avid book reader, Jandy also loved riding her motorcycle and annual beach vacations with her husband. The beach was her happy place.
A woman of faith, Jandy was baptized at and formerly attended LifeBridge Church, Davenport. She proudly and joyously served as a wedding officiant for two of her closest friends and their spouses: Jane and Arturo Villagomez, and Jami and Kevin Spriet, respectively.
Jandy loved meeting and talking with people. She always greeted everyone with a smile and had a distinctive, boisterous, and infectious laugh that people loved to hear. Jandy’s kind and caring soul, fun and humorous personality, and loving and supportive ways will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved her.
Those left to cherish her memory include her husband Jeff; children Christina (Phill) Groh, and Kaylee and Jacob Poston; grandchild, Hudson Groh; her mother Sally Mohnen; brothers, Jesse, David, and Caleb McMeekan; extended family; and special longtime friends, Jami Spriet, Jane Villagomez, and Joy Withers.
She was preceded in death by her father Jere Ales and her stepfather Don McMeekan.
