Janet M. Luethje, 88, of Davenport, Iowa passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2025 at her home with her family by her side. Funeral services to honor her memory will be held on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at 11:00 am at Weerts Funeral Home; visitation will be an hour before the service starting at 10:00 am. Burial will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorials in Janet’s name may be made to the Figge Art Museum or Bethphage Mission.
Janet was born on May 7, 1937 to Phillip and Marlys Garner in Davenport, Iowa. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Art and had her teaching certificate. Janet was united in marriage to Donald Luethje on June 25, 1961. Janet was a substitute teacher for a few years; but in her heart she was a “Professional Volunteer”. She served on many boards and dedicated her time to her community. Janet was a part of the Junior League and the Little Stone House, the local chapter of PEO where she also served as President, and the St. Luke’s Women’s Auxiliary where she ran Petals and Leaves Floral Shop. Janet loved to spend time outside in her garden and making beautiful floral arrangements for friends and family.
Janet is survived by her husband of 63 years Don; children Julie (Mark) Filips and Steve (Kristen) Luethje; grandchildren Michelle (Austin “Cade”) Rea, Scott Filips, Ryan Luethje, and Eric Luethje; great-grandson Luke Rea; brother Douglas Garner; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents Phillip and Marlys; her sister Emily Tucker; and nephew Dan Tucker.
