

Funeral services for Jean M. Howell, 92, of Pleasant Valley, IA, formerly of Davenport, IA will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, August 14, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church in Davenport. Interment will be at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. Family will greet friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, August 13, 2010 at Cunnick-Collins Mortuary in Davenport. Mrs. Howell died on Wednesday, August 11, 2010 at Riverview Manor Nursing Home in Pleasant Valley, IA.Jean Murrell Plumlee was born in Manhattan, MT on October 29, 1917, the daughter of Harvey and Elizabeth (Skinner) Plumlee. On November 26, 1938, she married Robert E. Howell in Davenport, IA. He preceded her in death in 1990. During World War II, she worked as a Junior Artist Illustrator at the Rock Island Arsenal. Prior to her retirement in 1982, she was employed as a Dietary Supervisor at the Wittenmeyer Youth Center. She was also a graduate of Montana State University. Mrs. Howell was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Davenport, Deo Juvante Circle, Tuesday Book Club, Davenport Women's Club, Alpha Circle of King's Daughters, Artists Unlimited, the Young at Heart Kitchen Band, Calligraphy Guild, and she also volunteered as a 4-H leader.She is survived by a Daughter: Sue (Bob) Jennings of McCausland, IA; four Sons: James (Ede) Howell of Bettendorf, IA, Gene (Sharon) Howell of Springboro, OH, Lawrence (Pat) Howell of Davenport, IA, John (Kimberly) Howell of Moline, IL; two Sisters: Leah Lona Albright of Helena, MT, Laura Coffman of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; a Brother: Walter Plumlee of Abilene, TX; 13 Grandchildren and 17 Great-grandchildren.In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by two sisters: Doris Brink and Alice Alderson; and two brothers: Roger and Carl Plumlee.Memorials may be directed to First Presbyterian Church Library Fund, the American Cancer Society, or to Genesis Cardiovascular Research.
