Jeff was born on April 19, 1958 to Catherine J. (Ziegler) Grindle and John D. Grindle in Rock Island, Illinois. After graduating from Rock Island High School, he met Bonita “Bonnie” Graves. The couple was married on November 18, 1978. Jeff believed in hard work. He began his career at International Harvester, but soon moved on to Alcoa Davenport Works from where he retired in 2016.
Jeff was a very social person. He always had a kind smile, and quick joke for everyone; and enjoyed helping others. Jeff was active in the United Steelworkers Union and the community government. He spent time serving on the City Council, and later served as mayor of the City of Riverdale Iowa.
To Jeff, family was everything and he loved spending time with his four grandchildren. He is survived by daughters Violet (Sean) Talbot of Bettendorf, Iowa, and Rose Dipple of Riverdale, Iowa; and he was Papa to Joshua, Athena, Elvira, and Amelia. Brothers Steven (Karen) of Lemont, Illinois and David (Denise) Grindle Moline, Illinois.
He was preceded in death by his parents, and his son, Lance Lee Grindle. His wife, Bonnie joined him in heaven on July 19th 2024.
Services will be on August 17th from 11am-2pm at Runge Mortuary & Crematory with a celebration of Jeff and Bonnie’s lives at 2pm. This will be followed by a graveside service at Oakdale Cemetery. Memorials can be made to the Riverdale Fire Department.
