Jerroll S. Hansen

Funeral services for Jerroll “Jerry” S. Hansen, 73, of Davenport will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 25, 2011, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Bettendorf. The family will greet friends from 9:30 a.m. until service time at the church. Interment will be held Monday, June 27, 2011 at Ebenezer Lutheran Cemetery in Audubon, IA. Mr. Hansen passed away on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at his residence in Davenport. Cunnick-Collins Mortuary and Cremation Service is assisting the family with arrangements.Jerroll Stanley Hansen was born on April 27, 1938 in Audubon, IA, the son of Stanley and Gerda (Pedersen) Hansen. He was the first in his family to earn a high school diploma. Following high school, he continued his education at Iowa State University where he earned a Bachelors degree in Aerospace Engineering. He was a member of the first graduating class of the Aerospace Engineering program at the university. In 1959, he married Lois Ann Campbell in Audubon. During his career he worked on the Apollo lunar module. Mr. Hansen then worked at the Rock Island Arsenal for 30 years, eventually becoming Director of the Science and Engineering Directorate, and later the Civilian Executive Assistant for the Arsenal. He retired from the Arsenal in 1999. He was a master craftsman, both in building and woodworking. He enjoyed fishing and hunting, but most of all he enjoyed spending time with his family and his grandchildren. Mr. Hansen was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and was also very active in Boy Scouts, where he served on the Eagle Board of Review. He is survived by his Wife: Lois Hansen of Davenport; a Daughter: Laura (Dave Reed) Hansen of Bellevue, NE; a Son: Matthew (Kristi) Hansen of Savage, MN; a Sister: Sharalyn (Howard) Campbell of Clarinda, IA; and four Grandchildren: Charlie Hansen-Reed, Jack Hansen-Reed, Madeline Hansen, and Christian Hansen. He was preceded in death by his parents.
