Services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Monday, July 29, in the Runge Mortuary Chapel. Visitation will begin at 10:00 a.m. He will be laid to rest in Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will follow the Memorial Park ceremony at Phil & Larry’s on N. Brady St. in Davenport, IA. Memorials may be made to the family. Jerry was born September 20, 1948, the son of Louis and Mary (Capesius) Herman in Davenport, IA. He graduated from Assumption HS in 1966. After high school he served our country in the United States Army. On August 6, 1993 he was united in marriage to the love of his life, Jeanne Townsend. She passed away on October 31, 2004. Jerry dedicated his career as a lineman at MidAmerican Energy for over 42 years.
Jerry had a passion for bowling starting at a young age and won several awards through the years. He also enjoyed fishing, golfing, and hanging out at his favorite spot “Phil & Larry’s”. More than anything he loved spending time at home or traveling with his wife and family, and especially with his grandsons.
Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Darla Phillips; grandsons, Wyatt and Zayne Phillips; and his brother, John Herman.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jeanne Herman; daughter, Dena Hakes; and brother, “Louie” Herman.
