Joan Elaine Poirier

Joan E. Poirier, 90 of Bettendorf, Iowa passed away Monday, January 20, 2025 with her beloved family by her side. Per her request, cremation rites have been accorded and a memorial mass will be held on Friday, February 14, 2025 at 10:30am at St. John Vianney Catholic Church; visitation will begin at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to the St. Joan of Arc Foundation.

Joan was born on November 22, 1934 in Munger, Michigan to Thomas and Agnes Lynch. She was united in marriage to Alfred Poirier on May 15, 1955; he passed away in 2016. Joan worked as a Licensed Vocational Nurse in Michigan and for a short time in Davenport before she retired in 1975. She was an active member at St. John Vianney Catholic Church and was a part of the Catholic Circle. Joan enjoyed knitting, golfing, playing Bridge with her Bridge Club, and hosting and decorating for family Christmas. Most of all Joan loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Those left to honor Joan’s memory are her children Pamela (Donald) Chambers, Janice (Brian) Skelton, and Alan (Diane) Poirier; son-in-law Max Fairchild; grandchildren David (Molly), Michael (Robin), Scott (Stephanie), Tina (Scott), A.J. (Rebecca), Matt (Jana), Eric (Lizzy), and Heather; 17 great-grandchildren; siblings Nancy Race and Wayne Lynch; along with many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Alfred; daughter Debbie Fairchild; parents Thomas and Agnes; and ten siblings.
