Funeral services will be held Friday August 28, 2026, at 11 am at Mt Moriah Jehovah-Jireh Church of God in Christ. Visitation will be from 10 am to service time. The address to the church is 2501 E. Pleasant Street, Davenport, Iowa 52803. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left for the family at www.rungemortuary.com.

Joe was a man of God, a devoted family man, and a man who was deeply loved and respected by the people around him. His faith was an important part of his life, and he carried himself with values that reflected what he believed in. He loved his family and took great pride in the people he raised, loved, and watched grow throughout the years.

If you knew Joe, you knew one thing for sure—he loved to talk! He could hold a conversation with just about anybody, and he always had something to say. He loved telling stories, sharing his thoughts, checking on people, and simply being around others. He was well known in the community, and his personality made him someone people remembered.

He also had a way of making us laugh, sometimes without even trying. One of our favorite family jokes was about his driving. He drove so slow that we would tease him and say, “you better go faster before you get a ticket for going too slow!” It was one of those little family jokes that became a memory we will always cherish. Looking back, those ordinary moments are some of the ones that mean the most.

And, of course, you couldn’t talk about Joe without mentioning some of the things he loved. Give that man some fried chicken and Whitey’s vanilla ice cream, and he was probably a happy man! But beyond the funny stories and the things he enjoyed, his greatest legacy was the love he gave to his family. He showed us the importance of faith, family, community, and staying connected to the people you love. He was a man who made an impression—not only on his family, but on the many people who knew him throughout the community.

He leaves behind more than memories. He leaves behind stories that will continue to be told, lessons that will continue to be carried forward, and a family that will continue to love him and speak his name.

We will miss his voice, his conversations, his humor, his presence, and all those little things that made him dad/grandpa. His life was a blessing, his memory is a treasure, and his legacy will live on through all of us who were fortunate enough to love him. Rest well, Grandpa/ dad. You have left your mark on this world, and you will never be forgotten.

Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Daniella (Bennie) Suell; stepchildren, Debbie (Wilbur) Nunn, Denise (Anthony) Nelson; grandchildren, Ticcia (Delbert) Sykes, Ebonie (Marty) Peak, Keith (Vanessa) Hanes, Bendrick Smith, Ben Smith; many great grandchildren; siblings, Amos (Ruth) Conard, Lou Ella (Jonh) Jones, Irene (Mack) Orange and sister-in-law, Minnie King.

Joe was preceded in death by parents, Enos and Mattie Conard; wife, District Missionary Mary Conard; stepson, Abraham Clinton; granddaughter, Tremay Parrow; siblings, Annie Reed, Rosie Austin, Maddie Conard, Verlene Ross, June Conard and Percy Conard.
