John Allen Baker Sr.

John Allen Baker, Sr., 52, of Davenport, died Wednesday, February 29, 2012 at Genesis East Medical Center. Funeral services will be Monday, March 5, 2012 at 1:00 pm at The Runge Mortuary. Visitation will be Sunday from 1-4 pm at the mortuary. Burial will be in the National Cemetery, Rock Island, IL. Memorials may be made to the family. Online condolences may be left at www.therungemortuary.com. John was born March 4, 1959 in Burlington, IA, the son of Calvin J. and Doris (Smith) Baker. He was united in marriage to Vickie Lyons on July 2, 1984 in Davenport, IA. John was a crane tech for Quad City Testing where he had worked for seventeen years in their inspection department. He loved to camp, travel and was an avid Dallas Cowboys and NASCAR fan. Those left to honor his memory include his wife, Vickie, Davenport, children and spouse: John A Baker, Jr. Davenport, Scott Christner and his fiancé, Emily McCoy, Davenport; Paul Christner, Davenport; Jeffrey Baker, FL; daughter, Amanda (Jerry) Spicer, Clinton, IA; five grandchildren; brothers, James and Gary Baker, both of Burlington, IA; Dale Baker, IA; sisters: Peggy Taylor, Marshalltown, IA and Sandy Baker, CA. His parents and brothers, Charles, Carl and Bill preceded him in death.
