John M. Cavett

Memorial services to celebrate the life of John M. Cavett, 49, of Davenport will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Monday, May 8, 2017 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church in Davenport. The family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. until service time at the church. John died on Wednesday, May 3, 2017 at his residence surrounded by his loving family following a long and courageous battle with esophageal cancer.John Marvin Cavett was born on December 13, 1967 in Red Oak, IA, the son of W. Terry and Carol (Christensen) Cavett. Following his graduation with the first graduating class of North High School in Davenport he married Lisa F. Williams on February 14, 1993. John worked as a saw operator at R.A. Jones (formerly Kartridge Pak) in Davenport for many years retiring because of failing health.John was a “tool guy” and loved yard work. He especially enjoyed visiting amusement parks and thrill rides with his family and grandson. The bigger and faster the coaster, the better. Disney World was his favorite.John is survived by – his Wife: Lisa of Davenport; his two Sons: Bryan (fiancee Katherynn) Williams of Pasadena, CA and Brock Cavett of Cedar Rapids, IA; his Parents: Terry and Carol Cavett of Davenport; and one Grandson: Cillian Allison.He was preceded in death by a brother Steven and both his maternal and paternal grandparents.In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the University of Iowa Dance Marathon supporting children battling cancer at the University or the Children's Miracle Network.
