It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of John Green, who began his final journey on June 2, 2026.
John was a man of remarkable character, known for his booming laughter, unwavering generosity, and innate ability to make anyone feel like an old friend. Born in Davenport, Iowa, he spent much of his life traveling between Davenport and Houston, Texas. He loved exploring new places and taking vacations with family. Throughout his life, John built a legacy of kindness, hard work, and devotion to those he loved.
John wore many hats—a dedicated professional driver, an avid sports fan who proudly cheered for his beloved Iowa Hawkeyes and Houston Astros (along with many other teams), and a gifted storyteller—but his favorite title by far was that of the “JohnFather.”
Nothing brought John more joy than spending time with his great-nieces and great-nephews. The girls especially loved when Uncle John would arrange for a limousine to pick them up for a special adventure—whether it was a trip to the movies, getting their nails done, going out to eat, or shopping for jewelry. Every one of them cherished their time with Uncle John, and he shared a particularly special bond with his niece, Gia.
John's presence was an anchor for his family, and his spirit lives on through the many lives he touched and the loved ones he leaves behind.
He is survived by his siblings, Ben (Patti) Green, Lonni (Jerry) Swain, Troy Green, Valentin Briones, and Anjela Briones; His nieces and nephews, Jake (Aasiya) Swain, Derek (Ashley) Green, Lance (Emile) Green, Jaydon (Mike) Prunchak, Sierra (Alex) Nadermann, Julian Swain, Jaxon Swain, Austin Green, and Jesse Green; His great-nieces and great-nephews, Macie, Gia, Addison, Gavin, Annalynn, Peyton, Nora, Benjamin, Gideon, Leo, Jersey, Liam, Shepherd, Aiden, and Brynn; His Aunt Rita Gentile; Special cousin Richelle Gentile; Tio Greg and Tia Lydia Briones; Estranged daughter, Olivia Green; Two grandsons; and many other beloved cousins.
John was preceded in death by his parents, Tom and Sharon Green, and most recently, his grandmother, Darline Robbins.
A Celebration of Life honoring John will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2026, at 1:00 p.m. for close friends and family at 2548 Lincoln Rd., Bettendorf, Iowa.
John's legacy of love, friendship, generosity, and laughter will remain forever in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
