John Hamilton Thomas

John Hamilton Thomas, 75, passed away at his home in June, 2026. A visitation will be held at Weerts Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 16th at 2:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 3:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. John’s United Methodist Church, where he was a member.

John was born on November 9th, 1950, in Iowa City, IA, son of Glenn and Joann Thomas.

He was a graduate of Northeast Missouri State, obtaining his bachelor’s degree. Later in life, he worked as a security guard for Pinkerton and Per Mar Security.

John was an avid bowler and enjoyed going on walks for some exercise. He took great pride in his title of “Great Uncle”.

John is survived by his brother Michael; sister-in-law Anne; nephews Andrew (Ilene), Dan (Emily), and Joseph; two grandnephews, and one grandniece.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
