

Jon Eric Westlin, 39, of Davenport, passed away Sunday, August 8, 2010 at Genesis West Medical Center following a courageous six year fight with cancer, surrounded by his family and friends. Funeral services will be held at 11:00AM Thursday, August 12, 2010 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Davenport. Visitation will be from 3-7PM Wednesday at the Runge Mortuary. Burial, with military honors will be at Rock Island National Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the “Jacob Westlin Educational Fund”. Online condolences may be made at www.rungemortuary.com.
He was born April 12, 1971 in Moline, IL, the son of Stephen and Sally (Struck) Westlin. He was a graduate of Davenport Central High and held an associate degree from St. Ambrose University.
Mr. Westlin served in the United States Marine Corps as a part of 1st Btn, 7th Mar, 1st Marine Division. He was a Corporal having served in Panama and Somalia and was a Water Survival Specialist.
Prior to his illness, he was employed by H.J. Heinz and was a Personal Trainer for Gold’s Gym.
He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and enjoyed motorcycle-riding, MMA, weight lifting, boating and was an avid Chicago sports fan. His two Boxers, Taya and Cece, were his beloved pets.
Survivors include his son, Jacob; father, Steve Westlin; mother and step-father, Sally and Dave Maubach; brothers and sister-in-law, Steve and Beth Westlin, Eric Maubach, Greg Maubach; nieces, Paige and Kyleigh Westlin; nephew, Peyton Westlin; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by a son, Drew Westlin and his grandparents.
