Josephine was born October 14, 1923, in Aleksandrow, Poland, the daughter of Antoni and Agnieszka (Grabiaska) Bielak. She came to the U.S. in 1951, sponsored by her cousin, Frank Bielak, from New Castle, PA. Josephine traveled to IA to visit a friend from Poland. During her visit she went on a blind date, where she met & then fell in love with her husband Frank. She was united in marriage to Bronislaw Frank Hensler on February 23,1952 in Davenport. Over the next 14 years of marriage, the couple welcomed six children.
Once her children were grown, she worked for 17 years in housekeeping at Mercy Hospital in Davenport. Josie was an active member of Saint Mary’s Church, Davenport. Josie was an accomplished vegetable and flower gardener; she was passionate about her rose garden.
Josephine is survived by her loving husband Bronislaw “Frank” Hensler, Davenport; daughters Virginia (Richard) Cohen, Montgomery AL, Barbara (Steve) Stahler, Davenport, Teresa (Thurman) White, Nashville, TN; sons, Robert (Nancy) Hensler, Honolulu HI, Richard, Centerpoint, IN, Frankie, Honolulu, HI; and her grandchildren, Brianna, Bryon, Alison, Sam, Alex, Nicholas, Ronnie, & Josie; and great grandson Tristan.
