Joyce E. Bateman, 83, of Bettendorf, passed away on December 7, 2023 at the Kahl Home. Per her request, she donated her body to the University of Iowa Deeded Body Program. Private family inurnment will take place at a later date at Davenport Memorial Park Cemetery. A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 15, 2024 at Asbury Methodist Church, Bettendorf. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until time of service. A luncheon will immediately follow the service. Memorials may be left to the Asbury United Methodist Church or the Mayo Clinic. Online condolences may be expressed at www.weertsfh.com. Joyce was born on December 15, 1939 in Clarinda, IA to John and Martha (Henning) Annan. Their family lived in Coin, IA where she graduated from High School in 1957. She met the love of her life John Bateman and they married June 7, 1959. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2018. Joyce was a homemaker and worked as a secretary part time while caring for her family. She was a member of Asbury United Methodist Church, where she also enjoyed volunteering, and was a member of P.E.O. (Chapter IB) and Gyrettes. Joyce loved traveling, winters in Arizona and playing golf and bridge. Most importantly, she enjoyed spending time with her family. Joyce loved being social. She and her husband were avid Iowa Hawkeye fans.
Survivors include her children, Deborah (Mike) Orth of Davenport and Robert (Karen) Bateman of Scottsdale, AZ; sister, Lois (Gary) Blume of Clarinda, IA and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brother, Gary Annan.
