Juanita was born October 23, 1933 in Mason City, IA to William & Molley Stephan. Juanita married Dr. Joseph Kartel on June 29, 1952 and in May of 1985 she married Dean Grandfield.
Juanita earned her LPN from Southeast Community College in 1968 and worked at Burlington Medical Center for several years.
Juanita was preceded in death by her two husbands and three sons; Joseph Kartel III, Michael Kartel and Steven Kartel. She is survived by two daughters Debra Kartel-Yacko (Burlington, IA) and Juli Kartel (Boulder, CO) and a step-daughter Julia Paulsen (Wichita, KS).
