A celebration of her life will be held at Blue Grass Presbyterian Church at 337 W. Lotte St, Blue Grass, Iowa on June 15, 2024. A visitation will be held starting at 10:30 am (one hour before the service), with a luncheon following the service.
Judy was born March 20, 1943, at her home in Mechanicsville, IA. She graduated from Davenport Central High School in 1961. She was married to Allen Michael Bovee in 1965. Judy worked as a bookkeeper for many years. She transition into in home child care until 2013 when her youngest grandchild was old enough to stay alone. She touched the lives of many families throughout her childcare years. Her hope was to have a job rocking babies in heaven.
Judy’s life was a living testament to her love, faith, generosity, selflessness and willingness to serve others. These servant traits were all demonstrated in her passion for cooking and baking that she shared with us all throughout the years for every occasion and holiday (especially if she knew your favorite food). She was a devoted member of the Blue Grass Presbyterian Church; the kitchen was her office for many years.
She enjoyed caring for her family, friends and all the children God placed in her care. Her greatest honor was leading little ones to the Lord.
She was preceded in death by her husband Allen Michael Bovee; infant son Joseph (Jody) Charles; her parents F.C. “Fritz” Moffatt and Ieona Marjorie (Davis) Moffatt; her brother Gary Lee Cook; and brother-in-law, Robert Larsen.
She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law, Cynthia and Michael Wilsey, Valdosta, GA. Tammy and Scott Chalupa, Blue Grass, IA. and Jennifer and Rick Longstreth, Bloomington, IL. She had nine grandchildren, Rachel Hicks, Rebecca Green, Timothy and Abigail Wilsey; Michael, Jessica, and Joseph Chalupa; Courtney and Andrew Longstreth; one great grandchild, Henry Hicks; a sister Lorraine (Moffatt) Larsen, Minnetonka, MN. and one sister-in-law Monica Cook, Bettendorf, IA. Along with many special cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and many children she helped raise and care for over the years.
Even though she will be temporarily missed here on earth, we are all looking forward to that wonderful and glorious reunion we will enjoy in Heaven.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Blue Grass Presbyterian Church.
